A Message To Our Neighbors

Starting as early as August 23, 2023, and continuing through August 25, our contractor, GET Solutions, Inc., has been authorized to perform work on behalf of HRSD, your regional wastewater treatment utility, and the City of Norfolk as part of the Larchmont Area Sanitary Sewer Improvements Program. This program will replace, upgrade, and relocate sanitary sewer pump stations and their connecting pipelines in the Larchmont-Edgewater community.

--Demolition Work to Begin--

HRSD, your regional wastewater treatment utility, will begin demolition work at 1941 Wilroy Road. HRSD recently purchased the property to install a pressure reducing station (PRS) and offline storage tank to increase HRSD’s capacity as development of the City of Suffolk continues. The demolition work and clearing will make way for the new PRS and storage tank, which is anticipated to be scheduled for construction in 2024 through 2026.

VIRGINIA BEACH – HRSD crews will be performing utility inspection and maintenance work on Independence Boulevard near Ewell Road beginning as early as 8:00 a.m. Saturday September 9, and lasting until 8:00 p.m. Sunday September 10. This work will require a closure of a left turn in the southbound travel lane and one inside northbound travel lane on Independence Boulevard as indicated on the map below.

August Project Update – August 2023

VIRGINIA BEACH – HRSD crews will be performing utility inspection and maintenance work in the intersection of Independence Boulevard and Wishart Road/Haygood Road beginning as early as 8:00 a.m. Saturday August 26, and lasting until 8:00 p.m. Sunday August 27. This work will require two left lanes closed on Wishart Road (westbound), two left lanes closed on Independence Boulevard (southbound), two left turn lanes closed on Independence Boulevard (northbound), and two left turn lanes closed on Haygood Road (eastbound).

--Utility Work to Begin--

HRSD, your regional wastewater treatment utility, will continue work to replace sanitary sewer pipelines along Indian Summer Drive on the property of Four Seasons Apartments. This effort will provide HRSD flexibility to make changes to the systems operation during maintenance or emergencies. The work will take place primarily between the hours of 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday – Friday. 

VIRGINIA BEACH – HRSD crews will be performing utility inspection and maintenance work on Independence Boulevard at the intersection of North Witchduck Road beginning as early as 8:00 a.m. Saturday August 19, and lasting until 8:00 p.m. Sunday August 20. This work will require a closure of a left turn lane and one inside southbound travel lane and one inside northbound travel lane on Independence Boulevard as indicated on the map below.

VIRGINIA BEACH – HRSD crews will be performing utility inspection and maintenance work on Independence Boulevard near the intersection of Broad Street beginning as early as 8:00 a.m. Saturday August 12, and lasting until 8:00 p.m. Sunday August 13. This work will require a closure of a right turn lane and two outside southbound travel lanes on Independence Boulevard as indicated on the map below.

CHESAPEAKE – HRSD crews will install sanitary sewer pipeline on Great Bridge Boulevard at the intersection of Joyner Road beginning as early as Tuesday August 8 and lasting up tp 4 weeks. This work will require a flagging operation on Great Bridge Boulevard and a detour to access Joyner Road via Lincoln Road and Jones Street as indicated on the map below.

--Work to Begin--

HRSD, your regional wastewater treatment utility, is undertaking a project to inspect and perform maintenance of the sanitary sewer piping along Independence Boulevard at the Broad Street intersection. This work should take place primarily between the hours of 8:00 a.m. on Saturday August 12th and 8:00 p.m. on Sunday August 13th. This work can be weather and situation dependent and should not affect your water or sewer services.
