HRSD is undertaking a project to rehabilitate or replace four miles of gravity sewer pipelines along Orcutt Avenue, Mercury Boulevard, Aberdeen Road and Edgewood Drive in the city of Hampton. This effort will also reduce the risk of sanitary sewer overflows during heavy rain events such as Nor'easters or hurricanes. The project is needed to replace and rehabilitate a pipeline that was built in the 1940s that has reached the end of its useful life.
The HRSD Commission adopted a new logo and tagline in December 2024 to better reflect HRSD's 2030 Vision Strategic Plan and align with HRSD's updated Promise and Vision. It also presented an opportunity to refresh the HRSD brand, seeking a more current and dynamic design to align into a house of brands with HRSD's sub-brands (SWIFT, SWIFT Water® and NutriGreen®) for better recognition.
The SWIFT logo is available to use with, and without, the full name of the initiative.
SUFFOLK, VA – HRSD has temporarily suspended aquifer replenishment activities at the SWIFT (Sustainable Water Initiative for Tomorrow) Research Center to allow for warranty repairs needed on components of the advanced water treatment equipment used to process SWIFT Water (water treated to meet drinking water quality standards). Facility tours of the SWIFT Research Center will also be postponed through January while repairs are made.

These below ground structures are reaching the end of their service life and require new internal protective coatings to restore the structures and prevent further corrosion.
